How to Fix an “Image Must Be Square” Upload Error
If an upload form says the image must be square, lowering the KB size does nothing to solve the actual problem. You need a 1:1 output canvas.
Open the toolOpen square image preset →Crop versus pad
Crop fills the square but can remove edges. Padding preserves the full image and adds background around it. Choose based on the content.
Then validate file size
After the geometry is correct, apply the portal’s KB or MB limit as a separate output rule.
Preview the important edges
Profile photos and product images can lose important content near the crop boundary, so inspect the result before batch export.
